Ordinary Miracles

In the Easter season, as we celebrated the most extraordinary miracle, I was able to reflect upon the everyday, ordinary miracles in my life. I have always thought that to love and be loved in return to be the greatest gift I could receive. I thank God everyday for the gift of love. This love, I have now realized, creates everyday miracles. My marriage is a gift, my children are a gift and from these gifts I experience ordinary miracles. Whether it be a belly laugh, a spontaneous "I love you Momma", watching Kate roll over for the first time, an extended hand or a big hug...our family is truly miraculous. I encourage you to open your eyes to the ordinary miracles in your life!
Here are some of the ordinary miracles of the month:
  • Kate smiles with her mouth open wide when she sees us
  • The extreme delight my 2 and half year old has when we go to the zoo
  • "I did it!!!!" (Ryan shouts after he accomplishes something)
  • Like mother, like son: When Ryan's tower fell in his room, I heard "Are you kidding me?"
  • Like father, like son: Joe told Ryan Gramma was putting away his treat. Ryan threw his hands to the side and said "Darn it!"
  • Ryan pretended there was a spider on his cheek, I said" I bet it tickles. Tell the spider 'You're cute'. He responded "No, I can't do that."
  • Ryan's imagination is blossoming from playing Jake and the Pirates to driving his Cozy Coup and crashing into the cabinets then saying " I gotta get out, see what's wrong" to having conversations on a pretend phone like "Hi Maddy- it's me, Ryan"
  • Watching my son make his stubborn giggler of a sister laugh and laugh
  • Ryan's use of adjectives- "These shoes are comfy, that's tasty, Kate's so cute, mmmm- delicious, cool, awesome, silly, too tight, that's my favorite..
  • "I like my swim lessons momma!"
  • Ryan counted to 30 on the April calendar! (well, I guess if "P-teen" counts- instead of 19- the 9 kind of looks like a P:)

Waiting for the Easter festivities to begin
Mommy and Daddy tried, but it was no use...me and my fingers won!
This was the result of me saying "Ryan, could you please get a burp cloth for Kate?"
